Hello everyone and welcome to the latest edition of Discovery.

It’s a busy time in the school year and there is plenty going on. I hope everyone is looking forward to a well-earned break – the weeks are flying by and that very welcome rest will be here before we know it.

Just a few reminders and details for students and parents below…

Forgotten Lunches

Could I please remind all parents to remember to pack their child’s lunch each morning before they leave for school? Over the past few weeks, we have had a large number of children arriving at school who have forgotten their lunch.

Please remind them to pack their lunch or perhaps check their bags before they leave home each morning. Thank you.

SS Examinations

VCE examinations have concluded. Students in Years 7 to 11 have also completed examinations so they can practice the skills of revising, responding to questions under exam conditions and managing their time in exams. These are important skills to master by Year 12 and taking part in these practice examinations are an important part of each student’s learning.

This year we have a number of Senior School teachers who have been appointed by VCAA as VCE exam markers. This is an onerous task but a worthwhile one as it provides teachers with knowledge and skills that will benefit their students. I congratulate and thank the following staff:

  • Mr Ryan Subban (GAT Writing Task)
  • Mr Josh Cozzio (History Revolutions)
  • Mrs Sylvia Ponnusamy (English)
  • Mr Anthony Brown (Outdoor and Environmental Studies)
  • Mr Ryan Subban (Business Management)
  • Ms Nicole Leach (Literature)
  • Mrs Diana Bright (Maths Methods)

Staff contributions to the teaching profession

Casey Grammar School staff are recognised beyond the school as exceptional teachers. This year we have two staff selected by VCAA to sit on Next Generation Victorian Curriculum F-10 Reference Panels.

Mr Chris Bucknell is on the IT panel and Ms Vanessa Hodgkiss is on the Ethical Capabilities panel. Congratulations to these staff on their selection. Their contributions to these panels will help shape education in Victoria in the future.
