Australian Music Examination Board Results

Alice W in Year 6 and Scarlet M in Year 8 are to be congratulated for completing their music exams with the Australian Music Examination Board. Alice achieved her Grade 1 Clarinet exam and Scarlet her Grade 3 Clarinet exam.

They each prepared several pieces and demonstrated musical skills including aural awareness, stylistic awareness and an understanding of the history of Western Classical Music. Preparing for their exams involved a great deal of effort, weekly lessons and lots of work at home.

We are incredibly proud. well done, Alice and Scarlet!

Week 6 in the Performing arts

What a massive week for Performing Arts in the Senior School! The week opened with the Years 9 and 10 Music classes performing their Semester 2 program. This was followed on Tuesday and Wednesday with Year 10 Drama classes and their Semester 2 productions. We rounded out the week with auditions for our 2023 production.

A big congratulations to all Performing Arts students who have strutted their stuff this week on stage, backstage, in the casting room and in the classroom.

Years 9 and 10 Music Concert

Our Years 9 and 10 Music classes took to the stage on Monday, 7 November to present their performance recitals for Semester 2. This was a culmination of a semester’s worth of rehearsal, practice and musical development and the results were fantastic.

Well done to all the performers and we hope to see them performing again next year.

The Little Mermaid in 2023

Following hot on the heels of the very successful 2022 Junior School Production of Star Warts, we are starting work on the Senior School production for 2023. The school was buzzing with excitement over which show would be produced with the winner – The Little Mermaid – announced on Friday, 4 November!

Congratulations to all the performers who have signed up for auditions. The standard of preparation and presentation has been very high and we’re very excited to see what our company will be able to put together. We are still casting our leads who will be announced late in the week beginning Monday, 21 November.

Congratulations also to those students who have expressed interest in being involved in the chorus, crew or orchestra.

We’re very excited to be able to put on this show that will take to the stage in late May 2023.

Drama in Year 10

On Tuesday, 8 and Wednesday, 9 November, the two Year 10 Drama classes performed their productions of ‘Million Dollar Meatballs’ and ‘The Last Gladiator’. The students were responsible for all aspects of the show – from direction, costumes and set design to props, lighting and sound.

Both shows were very entertaining and it was great to see the comedic skills and the excellent teamwork of our Year 10s. They should be very proud of all they have achieved!
