End of Term 1 Recap
It has been a very busy end to Term 1 and start to Term 2 in Performing Arts.
Our first ever Battle of the Bands was hosted on Friday 28 March. A big thank you to all of the performers, audience and staff for making it a successful event. Three strong performances were presented with the winners going on to enter in the Harwyn Rocking the Nation competition. Well done to the members of The Drank Blink and good luck with the competition.
Casey Grammar participated in the SIS Big Night on 1 April. Unlike other SIS competition events, the Big Night is a concert event where students from SIS schools collaborate in a range of performance items. This year’s concert was a sold-out success. As well as the combined performance items, each school presented a feature item and our Senior Vocal Ensemble performed ‘Titanium’ by Dave Guetta. Well done to all our performers.
On 3 April, the Performing Arts Department hosted the Semester 1 Instrumental Soiree. Students enrolled in private music lessons from across the Junior and Senior Schools performed in the concert as soloists or in small groups and showcased their learning through Term 1. The night was very well attended with over 60 performers. Congratulations to all of them for their preparation, hard work and courage.
Congratulations Beenu F
We are very proud to recognise the efforts of Beenu F who was selected to perform at the prestigious Take the Mic event at Chapel Off Chapel on the weekend.
Take the Mic is a national competition for young singers and musical theatre performers and requires a video audition submission for selection. Beenu successfully made it through to the live heats and put on a fabulous performance of ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow’ to an appreciative audience. What an amazing effort for a young performer.
