Christmas Blessings From the Chaplain

Thank you to the Casey Grammar community for welcoming me since I began in May this year.

I have valued getting to know many of you, seeing the strength of your school values in action and experiencing the genuine care and passion of your staff to see students flourish.

Your school values are deeply embodied every day and, particularly at Christmas, in very tangible ways through the preparing and giving of hampers to those in need in our community.

As you finish up school for the year to celebrate Christmas and the holiday break, I encourage you to reflect on the God who reached into the world through the baby Jesus, “God with skin on”, to show us how to live life to the full.

Jesus broke through all societal barriers to live among us and show respect, value and unconditional love to all. One version of the Christmas story puts it like this: God, through Jesus, “moved into the neighborhood” (Gospel of John 1). Another says that his birth is “a great and joyful event that is meant for everybody, worldwide” (Gospel of Luke 2).

May the God who reached out to us all, fill you this Christmas with his spirit of peace, joy and love and may you look to 2023 with hope-filled anticipation of the potential and possibilities for Casey Grammar and your family.

Have a joy-filled and refreshing Christmas holiday break.

Blessings,

Reverend Cindy Waters
