At Casey Grammar School we are hugely proud of our dedicated and committed teachers and on Friday night, one of our educators received a very deserving award.

A huge congratulations to our very own Mrs Sandra Torcasio for being crowned Primary School Teacher of the Year – Non-government at the prestigious Australian Education Awards in Sydney.

We are privileged to have Sandra as part of our school community.

Thank you Sandra, for your hard work and dedication to our students and staff. The recognition could not have gone to a more deserving person!

Debating and Public Speaking Success

Last week our C Grade Debating team won in the Debating Association of Victoria (DAV) debate. Well done James, Anushka and Ricky! Congratulations to James and Anushka for also being recognised as Best Speakers in the debate. A special thanks to Mrs Ponnusamy for coaching the debaters throughout the season.

We also recently held our inaugural House Public Speaking Competition and what an amazing event it was!

I am so impressed by the skill and confidence of the students who competed. I would also like to thank the audience members who came along to support their friends. The speeches were lively and interesting.

Congratulations to Anirudh, Andreea, Lilly, Avery, Katerina, Nathan and Teah. Thanks also to Mrs Bennett and Mrs Ponnusamy for organising this event and assisting the students in their preparation.

Farewell Ms Burns

Last week we said a fond farewell to Natalie Burns as she commenced her maternity leave. We welcomed her replacement, Mr Daniel Bugge, into the school community where the students and staff have made him feel very welcome.

Parent Access to School Facilities

If you are on school grounds and need to use the facilities, please come to Reception where we have toilets for visitors. Parents who come into the school are not permitted to enter student toilets.

If your child needs to use the toilet while in your company you should wait outside or you can bring them to Reception toilets where you can assist them.

Winter Uniform Reminders

A reminder that accessories worn with the school uniform should be navy blue. Please ensure your children have a navy blue beanie to wear with their uniform and that they have a supply of navy blue tights to wear with their winter dress.

Child Safety

On 1 July 2022, new Childsafe Standards were introduced in Victoria. The staff of Casey Grammar are aware of these new Standards and work hard to maintain our Childsafe culture. We have been busy updating policies related to child safety and will provide parents with relevant Childsafe information over time.

Student Drop-off Safety

I would like to remind parents who drive their children to school of the importance of safely parking before allowing your children to alight from the car.

Over the past fortnight, we have had students hop out of cars on New Holland Drive. It is not safe for your children to get out of a car while it is in traffic.

We have also had some parents parking on the nature strip outside school. Not only is this an unsafe place to drop your children but it has also caused damage to the nature strip. I urge all parents to use the PAC carpark or the stadium carpark to safely drop off your children.
