New Students

In recent weeks, it has been a pleasure to meet with several families who are wait-listed and looking to enrol their child in Year 7 in 2024. It has been equally exciting to have welcomed families on campus for the Subject Selection Fair and the Winter Concert - both events that were cancelled in previous years due to the pandemic.

Congratulations to our talented musicians who performed in the Winter Concert! It was a wonderful showcase of ensembles across all year levels.

Reconciliation Week

During week six, we celebrated Reconciliation Week. This was an opportunity for us to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements. We also explored how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia. Year 10 students Rhylee, Alice, Naheed and Jay spoke at the Senior School Assembly to provide an historical overview and put into perspective the direction we are heading as a nation.

Mid-Year Exams

The mid-year exams for Senior School students are underway. Students in Years 7 to 10 have been formally assessed in English, Maths, Science and Humanities (Geography or History), and VCE students will complete exams in each subject.

The chance to sit formal examinations is valuable, not only as a form of summative assessment, but also as an opportunity to revise content, prepare students for the reality of the VCE, receive feedback from teachers, and reflect upon examination techniques across a range of subjects.

The Semester 2 timetable officially begins in week nine this term. Students should check that they have the resources from the booklist as they begin new elective subjects.

Year 8 Art On Display

Year 8 Visual Art students were pleased to find their work on display in our foyer this week.  As part of Reconciliation Week activities, each student was to paint a cylinder based on the Indigenous painting style. Students researched and embedded practices of Indigenous paint style, including use of pattern, dot paints, and how each colour represents Indigenous land and heritage. Some students also included Lino prints on their cylinder, which involved an Indigenous animal chosen by the student.
