Drama Performance

On Thursday 26 May, the Year 11 Theatre Studies and Year 12 Drama classes presented their ensemble performances. These performances were a major assessment and part of their VCE coursework.

The Year 11s presented scene excerpts from The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde and Hedda Gabler by Henrik Ibsen. The Year 12 students devised their own performance based on ‘The Golden Age of Hollywood’.

In addition to performing, students were responsible for production areas including sets, props, costumes, lighting and sound. They did an excellent job. Well done to all!

Winter Concert

So much hard work went into the Winter Concert preparation, and we were so pleased with the result. It was fabulous to hear our performers sound checking and running final rehearsals ahead of the performance. A big thanks to our wonderful performers and their supportive families!

Year 2 Introduction to Opera

This term, the Year 2 students were introduced to Opera by participating in a series of online workshops exploring voices, costume and set design, orchestral instruments, and the Director’s role.

We then travelled to the Victorian Arts Centre to watch a live performance of ‘The Selfish Giant’. When the curtain went up, there was a collective gasp! Some of our students have recounted their experience below.

My favourite part of The Selfish Giant was when the fairies sang. They sang really loud. There was also a hole dug in the ground where the instruments were playing. There were spring fairies - it was amazing. Eleanor

My favourite parts of the opera were seeing the Spring Fairies, hearing the Good Morning song and seeing Winter in her beautiful gown. Danuki

My favourite part was when Winter took over. Also, when Wind, Snow and Frost knocked over the fence. Chloe

My favourite part was when the children were screaming, and the selfish giant woke up. Navsher

I really liked the costumes in The Selfish Giant, and the beautiful singing. Ekamveer
