Senior School News

We have been full steam ahead since returning from remote learning, ensuring that coursework is completed and assessments are finalised. These two weeks back on campus seem relatively brief with a three-week break just around the corner.

It would be a timely reminder for students to use this time to rest and recharge, to reach out to family and friends, spend time away from screens, enjoy the outdoors and participate in a range of activities that stimulate the mind and body.

For students in Year 12, it is not the time to take your foot off the pedal. In five months from now, exams will be over. The feeling of relief is so sweet when there are no regrets.

It is time to consolidate your notes from your Unit 3 subjects, review previous assessment tasks and teacher feedback, complete practice exam questions under timed test conditions, arrange small group study sessions with your peers and re-evaluate your goals for the term ahead.

Students in Years 8 to 11 have finalised subject selections for 2022 and many are already keen to consider their future pathways.

The knowledge and support offered by our teachers, Heads of Departments, Heads of House, VCE Coordinator and Careers Counsellor have been carefully considered to address the strengths, interests, values and aspirations of every individual.

A lot of work will go on behind the scenes to plan for the transition into next year and I would like to thank staff for their commitment to this process and families for their understanding of the complexities of this task.

Ancient Greek Gods and Seven Deadly Sins

On Tuesday 25 May, right on the cusp of lockdown, Years 11 and 12 Drama students presented their ensemble performances. Year 11 students were given the topic of the Ancient Greek Gods stumbling to Earth during 2020, while Year 12s were consumed by the Seven Deadly Sins. They did a wonderful job.

This was the first ensemble performance both year levels have undertaken that required them to plan, script, direct and perform a group performance from a prescribed structure in the ‘Eclectic’ theatre style.

It was a great night’s entertainment.
