Glad to be Back!

It was wonderful to welcome our students back to CGS last Tuesday after the Melbourne snap lockdown. Sincere thanks for the huge effort by students, staff and families that went into ensuring our Remote Learning Program was a success - yet again.

Our teachers have been thrilled to be back in their classrooms with their students. The lockdown came at a most inopportune time for Prep to Year 6 teachers as they were unable to complete their rigorous assessment schedule on site. The results from these assessments are used to help inform each students’ report standards.

As such, many assessments had to be completed once we returned. Well done to our students for completing these assessments in a shorter time frame than we had anticipated. They are indeed resilient in more ways than one.

I’d also like to acknowledge our busy teachers who have spent considerable time completing reports. They will be available to parents on Friday.

Thinking About Others

We are looking forward to celebrating our end of semester with a Comfy Clothes Day this Friday. We hope that our students will enjoy a fun day wearing comfy clothes while also considering those in our community who are homeless, particularly during the cold winter season.

Coming and Going

Thanks to our parent body for quickly adapting to our new arrival and dismissal guidelines. Similar to last year, our students are coping extremely well with being dropped off at the school gates each morning.

Thanks to our Prep to Year 2 parents for coming onto school grounds to collect their child or children and departing immediately at the end of the school day. I sincerely apologise for having to put these measures back in place but the health and safety of all CGS community members is, and always will remain, our top priority.

I live in hope for the day when we can welcome our parent body back onsite, please may it be soon. As always, our Principal, Mrs Fiona Williams, will be in touch via email if there are any changes to our guidelines before school resumes for Term 3.

I trust every CGS family can enjoy the upcoming break together and I look forward to welcoming our students back on Tuesday 20 July for what will hopefully be an uninterrupted semester of learning.

Until then stay safe and well.
