From the Principal

It has been wonderful welcoming our Prep - Year 2 and VCE students back to on-site learning. I know many students (and some staff) were anxious about returning to school but it has not taken very long for everyone to settle back into the rhythm of daily school life. Each morning I am greeted with smiling faces and enthusiasm for the day ahead. Students and staff are very happy to be back at school and I can assure Year 3 – 10 students that you too will soon feel the same way.

Thank you to all parents for following the guidelines for student drop off and pick up each day. The staggered start and finish times for Junior School students has seen traffic flowing smoothly in the PAC car park. The children have quickly mastered the Kiss and Go zone, showing how independent they can be when given the opportunity. We have a good plan to maintain traffic flow when the rest of the school returns on Tuesday. Please make sure you read and understand the drop off and pick up guidelines for Year 3 – 10 students which were sent home earlier this week. Ask a staff member if you are unsure about anything.

Remote learning and continued social distancing has caused some important school events to be postponed this term. They include;

Parent Teacher Student (PTS) Conferences which have been moved to early Term 3. To maintain social distancing, the meetings will be held via Zoom. Information on how to book your PTS Conferences and how to use Zoom will be sent home early in Term 3. Please note the following dates in your diary;

  • Junior School interviews will be held on Wednesday 29 July and Tuesday 4 August
  • Senior School conferences for VCE studies and Year 10 Core subjects (English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities) will be held on Thursday 30 July. Conferences for Year 7-9 students and Year 10 electives will be held on Wednesday 26 August.

School photos were also moved. These will now be held on Monday 24 August. Details on how to order your photos will be distributed next term.

School reports will be issued as usual at the end of Term 2. Due to restrictions on our usual assessment practices imposed by remote learning, the reports will be less detailed this semester.

We now have two weeks to go until school holidays. A reminder that school resumes on Tuesday 14 July. I think moving the school holiday dates was a good decision and I thank the school community for providing their feedback which informed this decision. Moving the week in the holidays means our students will resume school at the same time as the rest of the State and they will have a solid 10 week term to get their learning back on track.

I wish everyone a safe and happy Queen’s Birthday holiday.
