Monash University – useful resources for 2020 Year 12 students

During these challenging and changing times, Monash University has developed a resource to support students who are interested in transitioning to further study at Monash in 2021: Destination Monash 2021.

The webpage includes a lot of useful information including course information, events and activities, webinars and one on one chats. It also has a page specifically for parents/guardians.

If you were considering a course at Monash in 2021, I would encourage you to visit the Destination Monash 2021 page.

Swinburne University of Technology – Swinburne Early Entry Program

In response to the unique challenge/s that current Year 12 students are facing, Swinburne University of Technology have introduced the 2021 Swinburne Early Entry Program.

Launching on Monday 15 June, the program will expand the ways in which applicants are assessed for a place at Swinburne. Although Swinburne will continue to assess eligibility for courses using the existing ATAR-based criteria they are also offering a unique opportunity for Year 12 students to be assessed for some courses based on a recommendation from their school.

Further information regarding the program will be shared in upcoming newsletter editions however in the meantime; I would encourage students and parents/guardians to visit the Swinburne website to explore possible course options.

Resources to support informed subject selection

As we near the end of Term 2, our students are commencing the exciting (and sometimes daunting) process of choosing subjects for 2021 and beyond. At CGS, we encourage students to choose subjects that:

  • They enjoy
  • That they are good at
  • That reflect what they are interested in studying at tertiary level (and their career aspirations)
  • To keep options open

A number of resources exist to support students to make informed decisions. These include:

A presentation is also available on the Career page of the Casey Grammar School webpage that provides some practical tips and guidance to support students with making informed subject selection decisions.

Please do not hesitate to contact Ms Blythman via SEQTA or email if you need any support with this process.
