Exciting Activities and Performances!

It’s been another fantastic fortnight across the Junior School, with many events and performances on the calendar.

Our Foundation to Year 2 students recently came together for their first combined House Meeting of the year, which was filled with energy and enthusiasm. In celebration of Father’s Day, dads and special friends enjoyed the opportunity to visit classrooms and spend some quality time with their Foundation, Year 1 and Year 2 students.

Thank you to our wonderful PFC, who hosted our annual Father’s Day stall and a lovely morning tea for fathers and special friends.

The Soiree Performance Evening was a resounding success, with students impressing the audience through a wonderful showcase of instrumental talent. Thanks to Mrs Kyne, Ms Seal and the Music Department.

For their final Junior School Presentation Assembly, 6S guided us through Australia’s path to becoming a multicultural society. The talented 1G class also took to the stage for their assembly, sharing their learning with confidence and pride.

The theme of the 1G assembly was ‘family’, which was especially meaningful with Father’s Day coming up. They shared special memories and spoke about why their fathers or special friends are important to them. The assembly concluded with a heartfelt Father’s Day song, which they beautifully signed using AUSLAN.

Congratulations to Miss Stephenson and Trist House for leading a hugely successful Trist Social Service campaign. Thanks to their efforts, a generous number of toiletries were donated for Backpacks 4 Vic Kids. It was wonderful to have Sally, a representative from the organisation, come along to accept the donations at our Junior School Assembly.

Our Year 6 students impressed us with their creativity at the Poetry Slam, where nine talented individuals shared their original poems. Congratulations to Joeleen, whose powerful piece ‘Red Roses’ earned her the title of overall winner.

Sport has been in full swing with Year 5-6 students taking part in Hoop Time and the Summer Lightning Premiership. All students showed great sportsmanship and represented our school with pride.

Year 3 students have returned from camp completely exhausted but buzzing with excitement after a range of incredible experiences! From archery and the flying fox to rock climbing, what an adventure they’ve had at Forest Edge.

Finally, our Environmental Captains have been championing the ‘Nude Food’ initiative, encouraging all students to bring waste-free lunches. It’s been great to see the school community getting behind this important sustainability effort. Thank you to Mrs Mace for assisting with this initiative.

I hope all our dads enjoyed a Happy Father’s Day!

Trist Toiletries Drive

A huge thank you to all those who donated to our Trist Toiletries Drive that ran this term. Together, across the Junior School, we were able to collect an abundance of items that will be incredibly helpful to so many vulnerable children in our community.

Learning, Exploring and Experimenting in Foundation

We’ve enjoyed a wonderful and busy few weeks in Foundation. During our Units of Inquiry, students have enjoyed exploring the wonderful world of Chemical Science, using their senses and observations to learn more about the world around them.

They particularly enjoyed our Science Week celebrations, which were filled with hands on activities and opportunities to experiment, wonder and explore. During our unit, students have also been focusing on how to ask effective questions, how to conduct an experiment and how to form a hypothesis. It’s been fantastic to see our Foundation learners developing their thinking skills and showing curiosity about the world.

Our students have continued to enjoy and engage in our Nature Navigators program, spending time outdoors and developing important physical, social, emotional and cognitive skills. These outdoor learning experiences allow students to explore and learn through nature. They are planning, creating and constructing with natural materials while developing their teamwork and problem-solving skills. The joy and enthusiasm they bring to these sessions is a pleasure to see.

We are so proud of the way our Foundation students are engaging with their learning!
