A Joyful End to Term 2
As we wrap up Term 2 and head into the midyear break, it’s a great time to take a moment and reflect on what a fantastic semester it has been. There is so much to celebrate - from the learning that’s taken place in classrooms, the friendships that have grown, or the many ways our students have challenged themselves and supported one another.
Reports will be available on the last day of term, and we hope they spark some meaningful conversations at home. Most importantly, we encourage everyone to enjoy the upcoming three week break with rest, recharging and finding time for the things that bring joy.
As we look ahead to Term 3, it’s also a good time to start thinking about new goals, fresh opportunities and the exciting things still to come.
We concluded a busy term of Senior School House events with a vibrant Performing Arts Competition, celebrating the theme Aussie Icons & Classics. Each House delivered engaging performances that paid creative tribute to iconic elements of Australian music, television and culture.
From heartfelt renditions to light-hearted nods to beloved figures such as Steve Irwin, The Wiggles, Play School and Kath & Kim, the stage came alive with energy, humour and school spirit. Congratulations to all students who participated - whether through singing, dancing, cheering or supporting behind the scenes with props and costumes.
It was a thoroughly entertaining afternoon that reflected both the talent and camaraderie of our school community.

Interschool Moot Debate
On Monday, 16 June, our mooting team proudly represented Casey Grammar at the Deakin Mooting Competition. This team consisted of:
-
Instructing Solicitor – Isabella B
-
Junior Counsel – Arpita A
-
Senior Counsel – Anushka A
Mooting itself is a simulated court proceeding where law students argue a fictional legal case as if before a real judge. Over two intense rounds of mooting, we addressed the legal problem we were given, refining our skills after each round to deliver oral submissions before a judge.
From practising our courtroom etiquette to rehearsing what it would be like in a real courtroom, the experience was incredibly rewarding. The competition offered our team an invaluable opportunity to think on our feet, responding to extensive questioning in a high pressure environment.
We thank Deakin Law School for hosting a truly exceptional competition and commend the organisers for their dedication towards hosting such an event. To be invited to one of the most intellectually challenging contests in Victoria was an honour, and we hope that our effort reflected this.

Students vs Staff Netball
The annual Staff vs Students Netball match on Monday, 23 June was an absolute thriller! It was fast paced, full of intercepts and fiercely competitive. Both sides played with heart, but in the end, experience triumphed over youth as the staff secured a 17-12 victory.
Featuring the athletic talents of Mr Randell, Mrs Reeves, Ms Blythman, Mr Millers, Ms Clifton, Ms Shiels and Ms Blanchard, the teacher team proved they’ve still got it, and they’re holding tight to that title (and probably a few heat packs too).
A huge thanks to Ms Woods and our amazing Sports Captain, Sienna K, for organising the event. Better luck next time, students.
Speaking of next time... get ready! A Staff vs Students Volleyball match is just around the corner. Let’s see if the students can even the score.

Duke of Ed at Casey Grammar

The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award, often referred to as the "Duke of Ed," is a global youth development program for individuals aged 14–24.
It's a structured framework that encourages young people to develop skills, get physically active, volunteer in their community and experience an adventurous journey. It's not just about completing tasks; it's about personal growth and gaining recognition for the things they already do or want to try.
In Year 9, students have the opportunity to sign up for, and work towards, their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award whilst undertaking the Casey Challenge class. To successfully achieve this award, students must undertake a minimum of six months towards the three areas of Physical Recreation, Service and Skill. Students must also complete an Adventurous Journey, with participation in the upcoming Year 9 camp satisfying this requirement.
Currently, we have many of our Year 9 students signed up for their Bronze Award, but it is not too late to join if still interested! We also have a number of students from previous years still working towards their goals, as well as some students progressing through to their Silver and Gold Awards. Students who have partially completed their awards are encouraged to continue working on them.
We will be conducting a Duke of Ed lunchtime meeting during the final week of Term 2. Please keep your eye on the Casey Daily and come along to discuss your progress! Any Year 9 -12 students who are interested in getting started (or need help with their current award) are encouraged to speak with Mrs Kylie Reeves to get signed up.
For further information, please head over to the Duke of Ed website.
