So Much Happening in Junior School

Our Year 4 students recently embarked on an exciting city camp, exploring some of Melbourne’s iconic landmarks. The camp was filled with fun, much learning and unforgettable experiences. The students had the opportunity to visit the MCG, where they learnt about the history of this famous sports venue and enjoyed a guided tour.

They were thrilled to see the stadium up close and learn about the significance of cricket and Australian Rules Football in Melbourne.

Another highlight of the camp was the visit to the Melbourne Aquarium. The students were fascinated by the diverse marine life and enjoyed interactive exhibits. They learnt about different species, their habitats and the importance of marine conservation. Throughout the camp, the students demonstrated excellent behaviour and enthusiasm, making the most of every activity. Another big thank you to our staff who attended, ably led by Mr Bell, who ensured a safe and enjoyable experience for all.

We are proud of our Year 4 students for their curiosity and eagerness to learn. This camp was a wonderful opportunity for them to explore the city and gain new insights.

Happy belated Mother’s Day to all our mums and grandmothers in our school community. We trust you enjoyed your special day with your children. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the Parents and Friends Committee (PFC) for organizing and supervising the wonderful Mother’s Day Stall and Mother’s Day Morning Tea this year. Your efforts made the day extra special for everyone involved.

A special thank you also goes out to our mums and special friends who visited their F–2 children in their classrooms. Your presence and participation mean a lot to the children and the school community. We hope everyone had a memorable and joyous Mother’s Day.

Students from our Junior School recently participated in the District Athletics competition, showcasing the incredible talent and sportsmanship of our students. The event was filled with excitement and enthusiasm as our athletes competed in various track and field events.

We are proud to announce that our students achieved remarkable results and Casey Grammar finished in first place. A special thank you to Mr Batey, Mr Byrne-Nelson, Miss Collins and Mr Benham who supported our athletes on the day. Congratulations to all our participants for their outstanding performances and for representing our school with pride.

Merci to Madame Mathews for organising a unique and delicious Crepe Day for our Years 3–6 students recently. This special event allowed students to practice their French language skills in a fun and interactive way. Each student had the opportunity to order a crepe using French. They confidently placed their orders, choosing their preferred fillings from a variety of options.

It was wonderful to see the students engaging with the language and enjoying the process of ordering their tasty treats. The event was not only a culinary delight but also an educational experience, reinforcing the students’ language learning in a practical setting. The joy and excitement on their faces as they received their crepes were truly heartwarming.

Year 4 City Camp – A Memorable Melbourne Adventure

The Year 4 overnight camp to Melbourne’s CBD was a truly unforgettable experience, packed with excitement, learning and fun. Over two action-filled days, students had the opportunity to explore some of the city’s most iconic attractions.

From the breathtaking views at the Eureka Skydeck to the behind-the-scenes magic of the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) and the underwater wonders of the Melbourne Aquarium, every moment was filled with discovery and delight. The students were particularly amazed by the Skydeck’s height, fascinated by the rich sporting history of the MCG, and thrilled to see sharks, penguins and other sea creatures up close at the Aquarium.

Our home base for the camp, CYC City Camp, provided a warm and welcoming environment where students could relax, enjoy meals together and reflect on their adventures. The staff were full of praise for our students, who were exceptionally well-behaved, respectful and enthusiastic throughout the entire camp.

The Year 4 students should be incredibly proud of the way they represented our school. They embraced every opportunity with curiosity, kindness and a spirit of adventure, making this city camp a wonderful experience they will remember for years to come.

Cross Country

Recently, the Junior School House Cross Country took place on the oval. We kicked off with the Years 3–6 students, who ran either two of three kilometres around a varied course within the school.

The effort and perseverance of the runners was admirable, and it was fantastic to hear such great support and encouragement coming from the spectators. Well done to all students, and particularly those who were successful in progressing to the District Cross Country event on 9 May at Casey Fields. Well done to Reid House on accumulating the highest number of points and taking out the House Cup.

The Foundation to Year 2 students ran their cross country after recess.

For Foundation students, this was their first time running a cross country event. All students showed excellent determination in completing their course. Thank you to the large number of parents and friends who came to support the students in both events, and a big shout out to the Year 6 students who assisted with marshalling and running with the younger students.

District Cross Country

Almost 50 students from Casey Grammar competed in the Cranbourne North District Cross Country at Casey Fields last week. This was after their progression from our Junior School House Cross Country event. The competing students did the school proud, with Casey Grammar accumulating the most points throughout the day and finishing in first place from the eight competing schools, taking home the Cranbourne North District Cup.

A special congratulations to the 19 students who finished in the top 10 and will be competing now at the Divisional Cross Country event at Pakenham on 28 May.

Les Crêpes Delices!

Students in Years 3–6 had the opportunity to practise their French speaking and listening skills today in the real world before enjoying a crêpe. They were “délicieuses” with many teachers choosing to purchase one too.

All their practice saying “bonjour Monsieur/Madame, je voudrais une crêpe ...” and learning how to say their favourite flavours was put to the test today when they ordered their crêpe. Of course, they also remembered to use their manners saying “s’il vous plaît” and “merci!”

Many classes also decided to use the opportunity to embed some real-world maths learning by collecting data on students’ chosen flavours, then representing and comparing the data in a graphical display of their choice.
