Every blessing

Our student leaders and Year 12 students celebrated their Commissioning on 14 February.

Our student leaders made their commitment to the school, we heard from the School Captains and our Year 12 students were presented with their badges. It is an important ritual at the beginning of the year, marking this as a significant time for our Senior students.

We were delighted to welcome the parents of our Year 12 students and Leaders for the first time in three years. Thanks to the Vocal Ensemble Group who performed for us, including their vocal teacher, Tilarni.

Every blessing to our students in this important year – we look forward to seeing the way our student leaders and Year 12 cohort lead the school.

Welcome to the Season of Lent

The smell of pancakes was wafting through Junior School on Shrove Tuesday as students from Foundation to Year 6 cooked and ate pancakes.

In the Christian calendar, Shrove Tuesday is the day before Lent begins. Lent is the season of 40 days that leads into Easter and forms a significant time for many people globally.

In Senior School we marked the beginning of Lent in assembly, reflecting on the invitation to sacrifice something of ourselves for others and the opportunity this time of the year gives us to consider the temporary nature of life, encouraging us to reassess what is truly important.

The Benediction below was the one I shared in the Senior School assembly on the theme of Lent. The start is an adaptation of a quote by Henri Frederic Amiel

Life is short and we do not have too much time
to fill the hearts of those who walk with us.
So be ready to love and unhesitating in kindness.

May the blessing of the deep mystery we name God –
Source of life, love and hope,
Word of life,
and ever-present Spirit of grace
be with you this day and all your days.

Amen

Harmony Week is Coming

Every year, Harmony Week is a highlight of our school calendar.

If there are any parents with WWCC who have specific skills they would like to share with a group (eg dancing, cooking a specific dish etc.), we would love to hear from you! Please contact: m.riviere-pendle@caseygrammar.vic.edu.au

I trust that you are now settling into the new school year and finding your rhythm amidst changing circumstances. May you sense God’s presence with you in your days.
