Careers Corner Weekly #12

Happy reading!

Subject Selection Expo (Tuesday 14 May)

An invitation to the Senior School Subject Selection Expo was sent to parents/guardians of Years 8–11 students last week.

The purpose of the evening is to provide information to support your child with making informed subject selection choices. The event similarly aims to provide parents/guardians the opportunity to better understand the academic pathways your child may take through Years 9, 10, 11 and 12 (and beyond).

National Careers Week

National Careers Week is an initiative of the Career Industry Council of Australia (CICA) and aims to celebrate careers, career development, career development services, and career development practitioners while promoting the economic, social and personal benefits of career development. Career development is a process of managing learning, work and leisure to progress through life. It includes gaining and using the skills and knowledge needed to plan and make informed decisions about education, training and work.

How will Casey Grammar School Celebrate National Careers Week?

From a Senior School perspective, we are encouraging students to ‘Discover who you are’. To do this, we will run the following activities:

  • Senior School Assembly (Theme: Careers)
  • Year Level Subject Selection Briefing/s (Week 3 + 4)
  • Subject Selection Expo (Years 8–11)
  • Victorian Careers Show 2024 (Year 12)
  • ‘Discover who you are’ – Dress Up Day (Gold Coin Donation for Pinchapoo)
  • Industry Guest Speaker: Careers in Engineering (Monday 13 May, 1:00 pm)
  • Industry Guest Speaker: Careers in Visual Arts + Graphic Design (Tuesday 14 May, 1:00 pm)
  • House Careers Quiz – Competition (Friday 17 May)

The Junior School will also participate in the Dress Up Day on Friday 17 May. I can’t wait to see everyone’s costumes!
