Careers and Pathways Week 2024

In Week 7, our Year 10 students participated in Careers and Pathways Week. Careers and Pathways Week provided our students the opportunity to conduct research into future career pathways by visiting tertiary providers and engaging in activities designed to enhance their enterprise skills in preparation for 2025 and beyond.

A big thank you to the 2024 Year 10 students. I was very proud of how well they represented themselves and Casey Grammar School. It was my pleasure getting to know this group and I am excited to support them on their career journeys.

Also, a big thank you to our wonderful PFC, who kindly cooked a ‘celebratory’ BBQ for our students on Friday — more specifically to Simone, Kim and Callista.

Two of our students have shared their reflections of the week:

During Career and Pathways Week, the thing I most enjoyed was learning how to get into certain individual courses and potential universities I could enrol in for the future. This week really made me think about what I should do for the future and who I want to be. My favourite day was Wednesday when we visited Monash University. I loved seeing the new inventions and experiencing a day that university students would have. I learnt that there are multiple pathways to enrol at university. I also learnt how ATAR is calculated and how certain subjects contribute to it. Careers and Pathways Week will greatly help me. Also, if I potentially enrol into Monash University it will be easier adjusting to the campus since I already know most of the university. I really loved this week; it helped me connect and learn a lot about careers. Thank you, Miss Blythman and all staff who contributed to giving us such a good week.

Ranveer B, Leaver, Year 10

Throughout the week, I enjoyed exploring different environments, as it allowed me to gain a new perspective on what my future could look like, and the different pathways that I could take to reach my dreams. My favourite day was visiting Monash University, as I am looking to attend a university in the future. The experience gave me a peek into what my life at university could look like.

Through this informative week, I learnt that there are multiple ways to reach my final goal of attending university. I also learnt that there are many tertiary providers that are available to help me reach that goal. This week has given me an understanding of how other people have reached their goals and their story behind why and how they travelled through their journey, which will be a great motivator in the future.
