The Umpire Strikes Back

It was with great excitement that we concluded Term 3 with our biannual Junior School Production, ‘Starwarts – The Umpire Strikes Back’.

To say this was an incredible performance is a huge understatement! To put on a show of this calibre took enormous effort by both students and staff. A huge congratulations to all our talented Year 3-6 students. Each of their items was unique and kept us spellbound.

The main cast did themselves proud and our parents and teachers were extremely impressed with their high standard of performance. My sincere thanks to all staff in attendance. It’s never an easy task to teach all day and then help with production until 9:00pm, and our fabulous teachers did this with enthusiasm for two evenings in a row. Your dedication to our students did not go unnoticed.

This show wouldn’t have been possible without our wonderful F-12 Performing Arts staff. Many thanks for all your hard work. I’d also like to personally congratulate and thank Mrs Bronwyn Kyne for everything she did to ensure the show was such a wonderful success which included a phenomenal amount of time and effort preparing the students and putting everything together.

Thanks to all our ever-supportive parents for coming to see the show. This was a performance that due to the pandemicwas four years in the making and it was certainly worth the wait!

Athletics Regional Competitions

Congratulations to our sixteen Year 3-6 athletes who participated in Divisionals late last term. Best of luck to the following students who won or came second in their events and qualified for the Regional competition:

Alarice, who will be competing in the 800m and the 1500m

Meg, who will be competing in Triple Jump

Kobi, who will be competing in Hurdles

Vrinda, who will be competing in Long Jump

Our Year 2 and 3 students have commenced their swimming lessons and will continue for three weeks. F-2 swimming starts in Week 3, and Year 4 swimming kicks off on 2 November.

It was lovely to begin Term 4 with 4B’s fabulous assembly. The costumes, dancing, acting, and props were simply amazing!

The moral of the assembly was not to judge others, and this was portrayed in a fun and entertaining way. It was great to have our PAC full again and the audience certainly enjoyed the show. Bravo to our talented Mr Bell and his wonderful students.

Our F-2 students participated in their Athletics Carnival this morning and the weather was fabulous. It was wonderful to have so many parents join us for this fun event. Thanks to Mr Jeff Batey for all his organisation that ensured this event was such a success.

Welcome Back Everyone!

It has been wonderful to welcome our Foundation students back to school as they commence their final term of the year.

The first week of Term 4 has seen plenty of smiles and opportunities to reconnect with each other and with the learning environment. It has been remarkable to see the ease with which students have adjusted back into school routines, and they have amazed us with their focus and enthusiasm for learning this week.

Our English sessions this week have seen Foundation students exploring descriptive language and imaginative writing and how we can use words to ‘paint a picture’.

Using this week’s SMART Spelling Program focus as inspiration, students have explored the language and imagery in the picture book ‘The Magic Beach’, written by Alison Lester. They created their own Magic Beach scenes using their imagination and a range of materials and artistic techniques. It was wonderful to see their creativity take flight and their ability to use details from their Magic Beach artwork to develop their own descriptive writing pieces, with a focus on using detail and interesting vocabulary.

We are looking forward to continuing with the wonderful work our students have started this week and are enjoying a busy but memorable Term 4 with our Foundation students.
