National Careers Week

Casey Grammar School’s first celebration of National Careers Week ended with a dress up day on Friday, 20 May. It was wonderful to see so many students and staff in costumes that reflected career pathways of interest — from engineers, to nurses, professional athletes and even a movie director.

I enjoyed speaking with students about their career goals and we also raised $229 for Dress for Success, a registered not-for-profit organisation that supports women to rebuild their self-confidence and self-esteem as they seek work.

Congratulations to our best dressed winners of the day:

  • Hannah K, Year 7: Marine Biologist
  • Matilda C, Year 10: Director
  • Ryan K, Year 7: Civil Engineer

Remember the Subject Selection Expo 2022

Our inaugural Subject Selection Expo will be held tonight on Tuesday, 24 May. Please refer to the letter sent to all Years 8 to 11 parents/guardians for details of this important event that provides information about Casey Grammar School’s electives and the pathways students can take through Years 9, 10, 11 and 12.

We aim to provide the information you and your child need to make informed choices in their subject selections. The Subject Selection Expo is also an opportunity to meet with Heads of Department, subject teachers and careers staff who can answer any questions you and your child may have about individual subject selections for next year and beyond.

It is not too late to register for the event. If you would like to attend, please RSVP via this link.

Putting Theory into Practice!

What better way for our students to understand how a real life boardroom meeting operates than to move — temporarily — from a traditional classroom space to the Casey Grammar School boardroom!

Ms.O’Driscoll’s Year 11 Health and Human Development students were tasked with investigating ‘issues in youth’, with a focus on research and data that identifies social inequality and priority areas for action and improvement in health and wellbeing. The project called on students to use important real-life workplace skills including communication, teamwork, research and problem-solving.

What a great experience for our students!
