Zoom Meetings in Full Swing

Thank you to all parents and students who joined their teachers via Zoom over the past two weeks for Parent-Teacher-Student Conferences. There has been a record number of appointments made through our online booking system this semester.

It is encouraging to know that families are keen to connect with the school and to assist in monitoring their child’s progress, especially during periods of remote learning.

I would also like to acknowledge our teachers. Many of them are juggling their home responsibilities yet, after a day of remote teaching, manage to share detailed observations of the students they teach.

It is helpful when parents have read through the formative assessment feedback on Seqta prior to these meetings. This method of continuous online assessment is in place so parents and students can stay informed of progress throughout the semester, without having to rely solely on the opportunity to meet during the conferences.

Zoom meetings have also been in full swing for many families with children who are wait-listed and looking to enrol their child in Year 7 in 2023. It has been lovely to see some new faces and to come to understand the reasons why families are choosing Casey Grammar for their child’s education.

Getting Ready for the GAT

Our VCE students have been informed of the re-rescheduled date for the GAT that will now take place on the first day of Term 4.

An essential part of preparing for the VCE examination period is undertaking practice exams under test conditions. Unfortunately, with lockdown extended until 23 September, these can no longer be conducted on campus.

Teachers have been busily preparing a mail-out of materials for students to complete according to the mock exam schedule in the first week of the holidays.

Virtual Dress-Up Day

The Senior School marked Book Week with a virtual dress-up day. Several students and teachers attended their Google Meets in costume that were inspired by the characters of their favourite books, including Alice in Wonderland, Mary Poppins, American Psycho and Jojo’s Guide to the Galaxy.
