Casey VCE Pathways Program: Enhancing the employability of our students

The Casey VCE Pathways program offers enrolled Year 11 & Year 12 students the opportunity to participate in short courses, designed to enhance their employability. In 2021, students have had the opportunity to participate in a number of courses including First Aid, Food Safety, Waiter Training and more recently, coffee making

At the end of Term 2, our students had the opportunity to complete a Barista Coffee Course on campus at Casey Grammar. The 1-day course had our students preparing and serving coffee to staff and students; receiving a lot of positive feedback.

We received wonderful feedback from the Training Facilitators regarding our students. They were very impressed by their positive engagement in the course and were complimentary of our students Barista skills.

A big thank you to Short Course Australia and the staff and students who graciously offered to sample the delicious hot drinks on offer.

Open Days 2022

As discussed in Edition 10 of the Casey Grammar School newsletter, whether you are in Year 12 or Year 8, it is never too early to start exploring career/course options. One of the best ways to explore career/course options is to proactively engage with Open Day events at relevant tertiary providers.

Open Days provide the perfect opportunity for Secondary School students to assess their future educational options and to ask any questions they might have about particular courses and HEd/TAFE providers. In light of current restrictions, tertiary providers have adapted the delivery of their programs to meet the ever-changing needs of Victorian students; including the facilitation of virtual Open Days. Virtual Open Days will also allow attendees to participate in online campus tours, participate in Q&A sessions and attend information sessions.

Whilst nothing can beat the opportunity to walk around a campus – the benefit of a virtual tour is that it may prevent that ‘overwhelmed’ feeling and students can be more targeted in terms of the information they are accessing. All students can attend these virtual Open Days and I would strongly encourage them to take advantage of the great opportunities that the different tertiary providers are offering.

For Open Day dates, please visit the Casey Grammar Careers Page (for Australian wide Open Day events) or the VTAC website (Victorian Open Days).

Reminder: Early Entry Programs for Year 12 2021 Students

A number of Victorian tertiary providers are offering early entry programs for 2022 courses. Early entry programs provide Year 12 students to receive a (conditional) course offer before they start their end of year exams. The following Victorian tertiary providers have recently launched their programs:
